Photos and small reviews of places of interest from my trip to the USA

Arizona and Nevada Canyons

Red Rock Canyon

A road with beautiful views near Las Vegas. Along the road there are parking lots with panoramic views of the red rocks. Great as a warm-up before visiting remote main canyons: Grand Canyon, Bryce, Oljato Monument and others.

Hoover Dam

Dam, bridge, river and power station. Unexpectedly interesting and beautiful attraction. Easily accessible from Las Vegas. You can park in and walk along the dam and the bridge, enjoy the views. There are excursions to the underground power station at a price of about 10 - 15 USD I spent four hours on the dam. Everything is very impressive. The Americans managed to get the most out of the sights, as usual.

Grand Canyon

The main attraction of the trip. Canyon exceeded all my expectations. Impressions are indescribable. As if the embankment, only instead of the sea - a cliff.  On the shore there are tourist towns with cafe restaurants and hotels. Along the gorge there is a footpath and tourist buses.  3 different ring routes with frequent stops at viewports. You can combine walks and bus rides.  There are trails with a descent down, the easiest takes fully 1 day. For a budget overnight, consider small towns within a 100 km radius.  As always, Airbnb helps out

Oljato Monument Valley

Red vertical rock-stones in the desert. A popular spot for shooting American Westerns. A remote attraction on the border of Arizona and Utah, I thought for a long time to go or not to go there. Entrance costs 20 USD You cannot enter with the America the beautifull ticket, because this is not a national park, but the territory of the Indian reservation. You can certainly not pay and look at the stones from afar. But compared to the cost of gasoline to these places and precious time on the road 20 USD is not so much. On the paid part of the park there is, as usual, a visitor center with Native American souvenirs and a restaurant, as well as ring dirt road around the stones. The views are amazing.

Horseshoe Bend

Traveling through the canyons you will surely pass by this famous attraction. Admission is free, but parking costs 10 USD You can sit on the rocks, relax and photograph the horseshoe, as well as tourists photographing the horseshoe.

Death Valley Park

Unusual views and hot wind. When traveling through the desert by car, do not forget to bring a supply of water with you. Rescuers ply the roads every 10 minutes. I was very interested in driving through these new places.

Yosemite Park

You will be greeted by coniferous forests, waterfalls, lakes and rivers of the Sierra Nevada mountain system. You can drive through the park during the day, stopping for a walk. There are many advanced long walking routes. As usual, there is excellent infrastructure with restaurants and hotels and shuttle buses. I was very impressed with the route among the huge sequoias, the place is called Mariposa grove

I drove through Yosemite Park on my way from Death Valley Park to San Francisco along the Tioga Road with an overnight stay at the Mammoth Lakes tourist base. So if you are planning a route from Las Vegas to San Francisco, I recommend driving through Death Valley Park, then through Mammoth Lake and Yosemite Park along Tioga Road. The views along the road are excellent. A sharp change in climate from a hot desert to snowy mountains is a super attraction.

San Francisco

The goal in San Francisco was a tour of the Alcatraz Island Prison. But the attraction turned out to be so popular that I could not buy tickets a day in advance. It turned out tickets are bought in advance for a couple of months. Thus, instead of excursions, I had to wander around the city. I would like to note the expensive parking and traffic jams. Driving around San Francisco by car is completely impossible. But of course it’s worth a walk along the long promenade. The city is very touristy, endless cafe-restaurants, souvenirs, crowds .. The main attractions of the city are the Golden Bridge, on which you can walk, a mountain with a view of Twin Peaks and the embankment. On the promenade there is a fish market with street sea food and Pier No. 39 with restaurants and sea lions on wooden piers

Road 17 mile drive

A small stretch of winding road between San Francisco and Monterey. Beautiful views and wild beaches. On the way there are viewing platforms, cafes and toilets. The main attraction is a viewing platform for observing California sea lions and other inhabitants of the ocean, this is the place you will meet along the way when you go down and go along the ocean. The road is paid, the price is 10 USD

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

Cable car from the desert to the mountains. Drive about 2 hours from Los Angeles (170 km.) Upstairs there is a cool coniferous forest, a restaurant, and observation decks overlooking the desert. You can walk along easy pedestrian route and bypass all viewpoints. The climb costs 20 USD

San Diego Attractions

Embankment of La Jolla

Stumbled upon a super tourist attraction near San Diego. This is the promenade of La Jolla. The promenade passes right among the habitats of sea animals and birds. Sea lions go on smooth stones to warm themselves right next to the promenade and the pedestrian path, and with pleasure allow you to take pictures

USS Midway warshi

A huge warship, a whole city on the water. Countless weapons and premises for various purposes. The ship has everything from jets to dental cabinets. Museum workers are former retirement age military personnel. They conduct excursions, lectures and talk various stories. Stock up on time and get ready for new amazing experiences. As in all museums in the USA, you will get the most out of what is possible and you will never regret the time spent on the money spent on tickets

    Bonjour,
Wow ! Merci beaucoup ! Bien cordialement, Corinne.
